Going beyond a clock on the wall, my work seeks to give physical form to time. Like a clock hung on the wall, this series of work seeks to give time a physical form where we typically see it.
Each cube takes 10 minutes to make. 6 cubes are created in an hour. Using this math the viewer is able to actually see the amount of time hanging on the wall.

This series started as a way of creating a space in time I could still exist even after I was gone. It has evolved into bringing other people into the space with me to create a conversation that will still exist even after those involved have moved on. The conversation may be over, but living with anxiety makes me constantly revisit what was and was not said at the time.
This is a new idea and my creative goal is to continue to have these conversations with people in different spaces.

The Law of Horizontality states that the Earth's sedimentary layers were originally formed horizontally by gravity.
Growing up in northern Utah I had the mountains as my play ground. I have since been fascinated by nature's repetitive way of creating natural features such as canyons and even sand. It takes billions of years for these formations to be created and are continually being carved out today.
When looking at these and many more formations, I can't help but see time the way nature has given it form.

An 'event' (in Physics) is a moment specific to a place and time where a physical situation or occurrence is associated with a point in spacetime.
Seeking to combine the different ways I represent time, I create these ‘events’ that bring together the representation of moments in time (tiny cubes) and the continuous cycle of time (big cubes) in site specific installations.
I place each cube, one by one, in a grid along the floor. Being on the floor and same plane as the viewer, it forces the viewer to confront the work and to become consciously aware of their body in space and time.

This series started in 2016 as a desire to capture those moments in time we leave behind and never get back.
I started leaving my tiny cubes (moments in time) where ever I went and documenting it, knowing I would never return to them.
I always have clay with me where ever I go now.
These are just some of the hundreds of moments I left behind and I will continue this project for years to come.
In 2015, I started creating these tiny cubes I refer to as moments in time. Like time seemingly having no end, this project too will continue without a foreseeable end.
Three years ago I began documenting those people who have stopped to create a moment of time with me. I photograph the person with their moment and I document a piece of the conversation we have. Not everyone wants their photo taken so not everyone who has helped is here. I cherish these moments and so thankful for all the help I have had on this journey.
Having only a few hundred of these photos seems small compared to the thousands of moments people have helped me create. I seek to continue this part of my process and will use it in a future installation.
